Let’s talk seed cycling—a simple, natural way to support your hormones using the power of food! This practice involves eating specific seeds during different phases of your menstrual cycle to help balance hormones, boost energy, and promote a healthier, more supported you.

What is Seed Rotation?

It’s easy, effective, and honestly, kind of magical. It helped me restore balance in my own body - check out “Do You Suffer from Hormone Imbalances?”, and I’ve seen amazing results in clients too—think fewer mood swings, more energy, regular periods and thus improved fertility, and periods that actually play nice.

Seed rotation is believed to support estrogen and progesterone levels by providing essential fatty acids, lignans, and micronutrients such as zinc and selenium, which play key roles in hormone production and metabolism. While research on seed rotation is still emerging, some components—like lignans in flaxseeds and vitamin E in sunflower seeds—have been studied for their potential effects on estrogen modulation and reproductive health.

How to Implement Seed Rotation

Here’s a straightforward guide on how to incorporate seed rotation into your daily routine:

  • Days 1-14 of your cycle: Consume one tablespoon daily of flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds.

  • Days 15-28 of your cycle: Switch to one tablespoon daily of sesame seeds and sunflower seeds.

It’s that simple!

Ways to Enjoy Seeds

There are numerous ways to include these seeds in your diet. Personally, I love adding them to a yogurt and fruit bowl, which can serve as breakfast, lunch, or even a satisfying snack. Occasionally, I’ll enjoy this dish for dinner as well. Others might prefer adding seeds to smoothies or salads for added texture and nutrition. The key is to find a method that you enjoy and can easily incorporate into your routine.

Nutritional Benefits

In addition to their hormonal benefits, seeds are rich in fiber, vitamins (including E, B1, and B6), and essential minerals (such as zinc, iron, and magnesium). Thus, even if you're not specifically looking to balance hormones, adding seeds to your diet can greatly enhance your overall nutrition.
