New hobbies and activities are a great naturals way to relieve stress and can help improve your brain's plasticity. Improving your plasticity can help improve you body's ability to cope with stress. When we suffer from chronic stress this can decrease your neuroplasticity. Let's see what hobbies and activities you could begin today?

Activty #1 Games

Games on your phone are easily accessible and FREE. Some include Sudoku, Words with friends, Scrabble, Octordle plus more! There are just some of my favourites!

Board games are great naturals way to relieve stress and also a great way to build and strengthen your neural pathways. Some include Blokus, Othello, Monopoly, Pandemic, Codenames, Ticket to Ride plus more!

Engaging in a new physical activity is another great way to lower stress. Some include Tai Chi, Yoga, Dance, Pottery, Painting, Boxing and more!

Activity #3 Social interaction

Learning new skills that involve social interactions is also another great way to lower stress, build strong neural pathways AND build a strong sense of community. This includes volunteering, bookclubs, coffee catch-ups, bike groups, run clubs and more.

Breath Work

Breath work are also great naturals way to relieve stress. Breath work helps lower stress levels by calming your mind, lowering your blood pressure, reducing your heart rate and relaxing your nervous system. When going through our breath work, we want to remove distractions and find a space we can truly focus and relax. While five minutes of breath work is better than none, see if you can work towards 15-30 minutes each day. You'll see below a list of several different techniques to help you achieve this.

Breath Work #1 Progressive Muscle Relaxation

This type of breath work/meditation is my favourite. I, like may others, find it hard to let the chaos in my head relax when only focusing on my breathing. Progressive muscle relaxation is where we focus on releasing physical tension in the body. We focus on tensing and releasing this tension in all the muscles and joints, one muscle/joint at a time.
